Javan was an excellent facilitator. He created a welcome, comfortable environment for learning. I appreciated the stretching and hand/mind co-ordination exercises to keep the mind and body stimulated through a long day of sitting and absorbing. These kinds of little details are often overlooked in many learning environments. The extra effort Javan put in to enhance our experience was very helpful. Javan also did a good job at expressing what he needed from us to make the workshop a success (tidying up, taking care of ourselves etc). I felt like the pace was good, and the workshop was well organized. The snacks were amazing!

Taking one of Javan’s courses really makes you feel like you are learning to take responsibility for your actions and helping to leave the world a better place than when you found it. Javan is looking at his courses from the student’s perspective. He wants you to have the right learning environment to get everything you can out of the course. I really recommend taking a course through Permaculture BC, having Javan facilitate the course, while letting the instructor focus on getting the information across is a great way to run a course.

I thought Permaculture BC did an amazing job in bringing in the right person to the right audience. Javan has high energy and makes it fun for people to participate and feed off of his charisma.

Javan is a highly organized individual who knows how to make people comfortable and keep things flowing well. This workshop was friendly, involved tasty surprises, and had enough stretch breaks. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I would say just sign up! Not only did I network with many like-minded people but I got a chance to learn from a speaker with tons of experience. Javan K. Bernakevitch was a great workshop facilitator. He is an organized, mindful and talented speaker.

Permaculture BC is the only educational venue that I am aware of that offers workshops/courses/talks about such a variety of permaculture-related topics. I have also been impressed at the quality of the instructors/speakers involved. I’ve only learned about Permaculture BC recently, but plan to keep my eye out for other workshops in the future.

Javan is a wonderfully outspoken individual with an immense enthusiasm for his work. The combination of hard core facts and information and humor is a great time all around and a wonderful learning environment. I thoroughly look forward to future courses, specifically if the 2nd level of food forestry is offered. The courses offered through Permaculture BC are an amazing contribution to this community and are critical in this time of critical mass and our approaching environmental resistance.

Javan’s bubbly, easy-going personality lights up the room and matches his skill as a facilitator and permaculturelist perfectly. But beware, his enthusiasm can be dangerously contagious!
